Allaah says: “And disgrace me not on the Day of Resurrection. The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, Except him who comes to Allaah with qalb as-saleem (a clean and healthy heart).” (Surah Shua’raa: 87-89)
‘Al-qalb as-saleem (a clean and healthy heart) is the one which is safe from shirk, rancour, envy, covetousness, arrogance, love of the worldly life and position. So, it is clean from any sicknesses which distances it from Allaah, any doubts which contradict His words, any desires which oppose His orders, any intentions which don’t conform to His intentions, and it is clean of anything which stops it from Allaah. This is al-qalb as-saleem (clean and healthy heart) which is in an early paradise in this world, and in the life of the grave it is in paradise, and paradise in the here-after…’ (Ibn al-Qayyim, al-Jawab al-Kaafi 1/84)
